I still have this issue. I just got myself this Belkin mini Bluetooth adapterit’s not listed as a linux compatible device and isn’t initially detected by the system.

This is reported against an old version of Ubuntu and many things has changed since then. The link shows a trick on MacOS, maybe this may help?
